2013 Year of the Snake - Inspired Interiors

Happy Lunar 2013! Today marks the Chinese Year of the Snake.

According to HanBan.com, "2013 is the year of the black Snake and begins on February 10th shortly after the New moon in Aquarius, the humanitarian of the zodiac. This 2013 year of Snake is meant for steady progress and attention to detail. Focus and discipline will be necessary for you to achieve what you set out to create. The Snake is ... the enigmatic, intuitive, introspective, refined and collected of the Animals Signs. Ancient Chinese wisdom says a Snake in the house is a good omen because it means that your family will not starve."

I don't know about you, but I can always use a good omen so I started looking at ways to bring a snake into my home without actually bringing a snake into my home. (Something Indiana Jones and I have in common is the hatred of snakes. Actually, I think that's the only thing we have in common.)

Anyhow, I started looking for items - which was creeping me out because even fake snakes give me the heebie-jeebies - and I found some. Then I started thinking about chinoiserie decorating which lead me to some of the inspired looks I found. So take a look - maybe one of the snake-inspired pieces will make it to your space or maybe one of the beautiful Chinese-inspired rooms will inspire you.
