I NEED a home office!

I used to be a somewhat organized person, but as a mom with active girls, a business, a girl scout troop, and other volunteering activities - I have more artwork, homework, badges, forms, forms - and did I mention forms? - to keep track of than ever before in my life. I also have tons of rug samples, fabric swatches, paint wheels, books, magazines, client files.

Boo hoo, right? I know - we're all there. But seriously, the corner of the sectional in the family room is just not cutting it for me anymore.

We have a spare bedroom in the basement that was originally built for my mom as a temporary space until her apartment was built. Then, Agnes, our sitter used it for a while until she went back home. I'm finally at the point where I'm ready to get my office DONE! I wanted to share with you my decisions for furniture and accessories. Oh, and for those of you that were paying attention earlier, you'll notice that I picked the wallpaper option for my "focal" wall. :)

The above vignette is of the wall that you see when you first walk in the door - the focal wall. I tried to keep everything pretty functional. I am creative and I love whimsey so those animal "heads" are a absolute must, but mostly I tried to I just need lots of room for files and catalogs! I'm also a visual person so for me open bookshelves are preferable. These are all the items you see here:

I hope you like it. I think it's fun and a little crazy - which I want. It's a basement space without much natural light so I need the "wow" factor to keep me awake!
